About this exhibition
A single long scroll on Cuttack Rupa Tarakasi, the silver filigree craft of Cuttack, Odisha, recognised with a Geographical Indication tag on 15 March 2024.
What it covers
The craft's history, the stages of making, the vocabulary of wire motifs (spiral, curl, creeper, jaali, circle and dot), and the objects and forms it produces.
It follows the craft into Odissi dance, where Tarakasi forms the ornament set, and into Cuttack's Durga Puja, where it frames the goddess in the silver Chandi Medha backdrops. It closes with the challenges artisans face today.
How it is sourced
Every factual claim carries an inline citation linking to one of six public sources, listed in full at the end of the exhibition. Where an official roster or figure is not available online, the exhibition says so rather than guessing.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants sourced background on the craft. It is an educational resource, not a shop or price list. It was built for the Katakia Tarakasi Centre and is presented by SS Jewellers where served from ssjewellerskataka.com.
How it is built
The site is static: no accounts, forms, database or analytics. The photographs show real filigree work from the craft's practitioners. See the privacy notice for what the site does and does not collect.
